The musings of a semi-retired retard

Ruby Wedding

Among our guests were Chris & Ian Kerridge who celebrated 40 years married the day after my birthday. We decided to throw a party for them and several of our Dubai friends stayed the night bringing our total passenger list to 18 split between the two villas. The sore heads eventually surfaced mid-morning and breakfasted on the balcony.

Ralph and I marinated the 7 kilos of beef ribs and the 2 kilo cut that I had bought earlier and then the heavens opened. At first we thought this was a shower, but the rain soon became torrential and the black clouds remained overhead threatening the planned barbecue. During the storm, the Dubai ladies reverted to type and got the mahjong board out for a quick game. However the sun eventually did reappear and Ralph and I lit the barbecue and once we had a good fire going we started cooking and even though I say so myself we did a fabulous job. Although everyone was a bit jaded from the day before, the wine again started flowing and we stuffed ourselves royally.

That night we said goodbye to the Dubai contingent and were down to a mere 10 guests.
